It looks like Wigan Athletic are attempting to forge links with the Far East, following on from reporting that Baddrol bin Bakhtiar has been a linked with a trial at the Latics, Vital have been contacted about another talented young player, 20 year old striker Wan Zack Haikal from Malaysia, who has also been given the same offer of a two weeks trial from Wigan Athletic.
Wannabe's statement
If this news is true, It's progress for our Nation's football team. With influential players like Safee Sali, Safiq Rahim and Amirulhadi Zainal being fished by top clubs in Asia and clubs from Europe. seeing Baddrol Bakhtiar and Wan Zack Wan Haikal being offered to a chance to prove themselves at the JJB stadium is a WICKED!
Baddrol Bakhtiar, Kedah's attacking midfielder and a main stay in the national squad has gone strength to strength every season. His awareness, ball control, movement and eye for the killer pass has been lauded by many coaches in Malaysia. However, his finishing is left much to be desired and at the age of 23, he has still got time to improve.
Wan Zack Wan Haikal, linchpin for Harimau Muda has impressed many football enthusiast around Malaysia as he is the top scorer in the Slovakian tour. Winning 3 games, he is the source of inspiration for the team. Versatile in nature, he is able to play as a midfielder, make jinking runs like a winger and finish things off like a striker. A favourite with Omg Kim Swee, his meteoric rise has been noted by man clubs and with Wigan approaching, the time is just right for him.
These two players are young and being able to train and pit against players like Hugo Rodallega, James McCarthy, Ali Al Habsi andAntolin Alcaraz will be a prospect they shouldn't miss.
I'm proud and glad to see Malaysian players being recognised by Clubs around the world. Akmal Rizal Rakhli, Juzaili Samion and Titus James have made us proud by plying their trade in Europe but their careers were shortlived there as they do not have the foundations to succeed there.
Ian Rush once quipped that Asian have great technique but they lack the mental composure. Now, the the Malaysian players have improved a mile since their heady days and players are much more focused in this modern era.
Hopefully, these two lads will be able to prove themselves there and make a great impression with the Latics. If they nail a contract with Wigan, they would be a household commodity at Wigan and Malaysia.
If the news is true, accept the offer guys and make us proud! We are on the prowl and we will one day be one of the best in the years to come!
Avinesh's verdict: Maybe Tony Fernandes should look at bringing some of our players to QPR. Safee Sali moving there, sounds enticing ehh....hehehehe...=)
