Khairul Azwan, Perak's manager is a happy man as he was happy to see his comrades beat Borneo giants, Sabah giants in a pulsating match at the Perak Stadium.
Goals from Fazrul Hazli and Failee Ghazali were enough to sink Sabah as 10,000 fans thronged the stadium to see their players mince the likes of Zainizam Marjan and Rethauddin Emran.
Khairul Azwan, who was on the bench in yesterday's game was a delighted man after the final whistle as he hugged Norizan Bakar as the prospect of playing in the quarter finals looms highly for the team.
"Firstly, I'm glad that team is doing well although losing 5 important figures in the team as they going through a 7 game ban" stated Khairul.
He also praised the team's determination and commitment towards the team's cause as they have proved their mettle in three games.
"We have also proved ourselves as strong challengers in the Malaysian Cup as the coaches's guidance and players' eagerness to succeed have been beneficial to the team" echoed the team manager.
When asked about Wan Hossein's injury status, he stated that it wasn't serious and it is just a minor shoulder injury.
"We are hopeful that he would be able to feature in the next game against Johor as we need players for the upcoming game at Pasir Gudang"
Perak's coach, Norizan Bakar, stated that the team has fully capitalised their home advantage as they have collected maximum points from three games.
"I congratulate the players for showing their commitment and with their enthusiasm, it helped them to play eventhough being a man down for the last 30 minutes"
When asked about the team performance without the 5 banned players, Cikgu Jan gave a firm answer and stated that the other players have taken their challenge well.
"It's not that the 5 players are absent but they are still in team but they are unable to play due to their bans. Their absence hasn't affected the team as the other players took up the challenge and so far the team has done well and I'm proud of them"
K. Nanthakumar's entrance in the 32nd minute proved to be masterstroke change by Norizan and when asked about the change, the coach stated that one player doesn't change the whole outset of the game but it is the team itself that matters.
"No, No, that one change didn't change the game as the team played collectively and the minor changes in tactics helped the team prevail against Sabah"
Norizan Bakar stated that the team will have a one day break and after that they will be off for training as they are preparing for the next game at Pasir Gudang against Johor.
Sabah's tactician, Justin Ganai, wasn't happy with Sabah's performance as his side fail to capitalise on the 1 player advantage they had.
"I expected them to capitalise on that advantage but they failed to make their chances count and we had two clear cut chances only to be squandered by my players"
"However, we would learn from our mistakes and come back stronger against Kedah"
Sabah suffered their first defeat in yesterday's game and he stated that the team needs to improve their strikeforce.
"Our strike force has been blunt and they should make their chances count. Farid, has yet to find his scoring touch but I'm hopeful that he gets his scoring boots on" stated Justin
Farid Ideris, who has had a lean spell this season, has yet to register a goal as veteran Zainizam Marjan is bearing the goal scoring responsibilities of the team although he plays as an out and out striker.
When asked about his other strikers in his disposal he stated that Razlan Oto and Stanley Bernard Samuel are still finding it hard to score goals but he praised them for being true professionals.
He is also hopeful that the lads will get back their goalscoring abilities and help Sabah to qualify for the quarter finals of the Malaysia Cup.
