Perak closing in on Safiq Rahim

"I'm glad to announce that FAS has responded to our letter, to allow negotiations with Safiq Rahim to commence, so we are going to commence negotiation with Safiq Rahim immediately"

Perak's manager, Khairul Azwan made this announcement during an interview with Peraknews team today at Ipoh.

Khairul made a shocking announcement last week when he stated the team's intent to sign Selangor's playmaker,Safiq Rahim, Terengganu's forward,Abdul Hadi Yahya and Harimau Muda A's centreback,Mohammad Fadhli Shas for next season Malaysian league campaign.

Today's announcement would surely cause shockwaves in the Malaysian footballing circle, as Perak is closing in on the National team captain who has recently found form with his current employers, Selangor.

"The negotiations will start next week and we are glad that Selangor has given us the green light to sign him as this would surely boost the hopes of the team next season" stated Khairul

When asked about Abdul Hadi Yahaya's status, Khairul stated that he is under contract with Terengganu till 2012 and they haven't got the green light from Terengganu to undergo negotiations with the National forward.

"Abdul Hadi Yahya is still under contract and his contract will end in 2012.Thus, We are going to respect Terengganu position.

"If they allow negotiations, we will discuss with the player. If it isn't allowed, then we will abort our move for him as we have to respect Terengganu's stand" told the Perak manager.

Fadhli Shas's offer is still under consideration as the player is still under Football Association of Malaysia(FAM). The defender which was unearthed by National Olympic Squad, Ong Kim Swee is also being eyed by Khairul Azwan and they are still waiting for the final say from FAM

On the development of import players, Perak have identified 3 Indonesian International for the team and the search for a Brazilian player is still ongoing as Perak is making the necessary moves to bolster their squad next season.

"Out of three, two of them are playing as an attacking midfielder and striker. We arehopeful that we will make the right choice for the team as we want to satisfy our loyal fans who has been with us through thick and thin"

Khairul was glad and happy that the players have done well to qualify themselves for the quarter finals and he expects the team to take one thing at a time, as they plan their assault to gun down Klang Valley giants, Selangor.

"We are going continue with the same line up that we have utilize so far as we are unable to use the 5 suspended players yet.

"I'm glad and happy that the current players have deliveredas they have shown their commitment, determination and passion towards the team." claimed Khairul

He urged the fans to throng the stadium for the quarter finals as the fans can whet up the appetite of the players. With their support, he hopes that the team would do well in the Malaysia Cup campaign.

"It is important that the fans are behind us. We just hope that they fill up the stadium for the coming games and with a full attendance,  I'm sure the team will perform well and at the same heighten the spirits of the players who have slogged very hard to help Perak to qualify till this stage"
