Making their debut in the Super League, PKNS have bolstered their options with few notable signings. Players like striker, Rudie Ramli, goalkeeper, Remezey Che Ros and defender, Ahmad Azlan Zainal were roped in to improve the roster of the squad as veteran coach, Abdul Rahman Ibrahim is looking to cement their reputation in the Super League.
Abdul Rahman Ibrahim, who had 2 stints with the National team will surely want to continue hismomentous run as they have were the champions for last season's Premier League and they managed to take the scalp of several Super League sides last season.
Abdul Rahman will look to cement his reputation as an astute tactician with this club side. His meticulous planning and ability to bring out the best in players is trait that every coach in Malaysia should have. Players like Yusri Che Lah, Rosdi Talib and Manzoor Azwira were some of the players under his tutelage and many players respect his as a coach.
Helmi Loussaief and Dawood Nicoise are the foreign players roped in to bolster the attacking line of the team. Playmaker, Loussaief, from Tunisia has played in many leagues in Europe and the French based lad used to play in the Serie C1/A of Italy. Nicoise looks much accomplished as he has plied his tried in the Turkish Super League and Ligue 1. Opting for a new experience, the striker arrives with bags of expectations and Abdul Rahman claims that this lad has a surprise element in his play.
When asked whether he has any prominent players in his side, he stated that all the players are capable of rising to the occasion but he expects the likes of Rudie Ramli and Farouk Hashim to come out of their cocoons after a disappointing stint with their former clubs.
With four clubs in the fray, PKNS will look to stamp their authority but the management will be looking for a respectable finish and after that, they will continue their momentous club and who knows, they might become the next Selangor MPPJ!
Team verdict: Longshots - Being their debut season, not much expectations are placed on this team. Abdul Rahman Ibrahim may be an experienced coach but he needs time to develop this squad. They will be the team to watch in the coming years.
Player to watch: Dawood Nicoise - Having played for Ankaragucu in the Turkish Super League, the French Guinea striker will be the main man for this club side. He will be ably assisted by Rudie Ramli but he can operate on his own as his close control, pace and strength are his best attributes.
