When I switch on the TV, I was watching Datuk Lee Ching Wei playing with China's Chen Jin in the World Badminton Championships in London. I missed the first set but made sure that I was glued to the seat for the second set.
Even the 7th Most Delicious food in the world couldn't pull me away from my seat. Such enthusiasm and excitement, I was watching a shuttling marvel dismantling a lad that has been dubbed as the future of Chinese Badminton after the ever eccentric, Lin Dan.
With such ease, he thrashed Chen Jin in 2 sets and now Chong Wei will be facing either Lin Dan or Danish veteran, Peter Hoeg Gade Christensen in the Final of the world championship.
The world number 1 was expected to qualify for the finals but facing a player like Chen Jin, people expected a close game between them.
However, Chong Wei quashed those doubts by thrashing Chen Jin in straight sets and with the way Chong Wei is playing, he looks confident and primed for the final. Chen Jin was unable to counter the attacks made by Chong Wei and in the second set, it was a virtuoso performance from Datuk!
He didn't even let Chen Jin to get into his rhythm and the shell shocked Chinese was left disappointed by the World No. 1's brilliant cross shots, smashes and exquisite net play.
With one more game to game, Chong Wei will surely want to win the World Championship for the first and last time. This will be his last world championship and he would surely want to bring the title back home.
The last Malaysian to qualify for the finals was Wong Choong Hann, who at that time was one of the best southpaw players in the world.
Every Malaysian would surely support Chong Wei for the final and with his hardwork, determination and charismatic personality, he deserves the championship and should give Lin Dan a run for his money(It's Chong Wei's time dude, had enough of your antics).
Hopefully, Lin Dan tarak sakit perut laa!! hehehehe
Avinesh's verdict: Win the Championship and who knows, he might get the Datuk Seri award from YDP Agong...Hehehehehe...=)
