Safiq Rahim, Malaysia and Selangor FC's Midfielder will be off to Cardiff City for trials after the Malaysia Cup ends.
The 24 year old skipper for Harimau Malaya, who have been laden with offers from the Indonesian Super League (ISL) will be offered a three week trial with the Welsh side.
The Malaysia Cup, which kicks off next month will see the best of him for the next few months but after that the inspirational captain will be off for better oppurtunities.
Safiq, who held talks with Cardiff City chairman, Datuk Chan Tian Gee, stated that the player will spend three weeks on trial with the side led by former Norwich legend, Malky Mackay.
Cardiff City who were close to securing a berth in the Premier League last season is owned by Tan Sri Vincent Tan. He took over the team in May 27th, 2010 with sole aim of qualifying for the coveted Barclays Premier Legaue.
With players like Scottish goal scoring machine, Kenny Miller and Welsh sniper, Robert Earnshaw in the squad. training with them would be a good experience for the team and with this, he will be able to bring Malaysian football to great heights.
Safiq, who has been a revelation since debuting in 2007, has impressed in recent matches. The man who impressed with KL Plus before carving a name for himself at Selangor, has been a pivotal figure the in Malaysian top flight for many seasons.
Last year, the Seremban born lad skippered the team to its maiden AFF Suzuki Cup triumph. Since then, offers were pouring in for the diminutive midfielder and with him accepting the challenge, the sky is bright for the youngster.
"I am very excited. With an open heart, Iwill take this offer and give it my best and do Malaysia proud. It's not every day an oppurtunity like this comes knocking your door, especially for a Malaysian. So, I'm fully intent on seizing this chance and making the most of what will be offered to me," said Safiq
Meanwhile, Cardiff's Chairman, Datuk Chan, said he was optimistic that the trials would be a stepping stone for Malaysia as the country continued their steady momentum to relive its glory days.
"We are glad Safiq has accepted our offer for a trial with the first team and we hope that everything turns out well for the lad. He's young and ambitious, which makes him being able to make the cut with the team.
