The 52 year old, who coached Malaysia from 2006-2009, just finished his 6 month suspension which was imposed by FAM last year. He was banned for making comments to the media about the constant fixture changes in the league.
"It is true that I've received some offers from teams in Indonesia and Myanmmar where at the moment, my agent is handling the negotiations. I've also been approached by teams from the Malaysian League but I've yet to make a decision" said Sathianathan
“As a coach, it is only natural that I get back to the field. I’m just not the type to sit back and keep quiet. I have received the punishment of being suspended for six months and it is certainly a lesson for me.
Currently the CEO of Kelantan FA and also the Head of Kelantan FA's Youth Development Programme, he is eager to get back on the field and bring his tactical nous for the team that he is bound to coach.
However, he mentioned that he will discuss with Kelantan FA's president, Tan Sri Annuar Musa, before he makes a decision regarding about his future.
The question is, should he still remain in Malaysia or follow the footsteps of M. Karathu and Abdul Rahman Ibrahim who have the experience of coaching foreign teams.
My answer would be a YES, because at the age of 52 year old, this is his time to spread his wings and share and also learn a thing or two by coaching a foreign team.
Having won the Merdeka Cup in 2007, he has the ability to change a fortune of a team. Kelantan, who had a slow start last season, at last became a much better outfit as the season progressed.
Sathianathan was the instigator for the resurgence as he used his tactical prowess to help the team beat much fancied sides like Selangor and Kedah.
However the suspension by FAM was unexpected and he has since been replaced by experienced tactician, M. Karathu. He would surely grab the chance to coach a foreign team and having a coach in another country would help aid the development of our country's football.
Avinesh's Verdict: It's your time boss!! After six months, It's ur time to grill the players and bring the best out of them...Whoever he coaches, the team will see significant improvements...
