Safee to try out at Cardiff City...

Malaysia Hotshot, Safee Sali has been offered a 2 week trial with Cardiff City. The trial term which starts on the 12th September will be fully sponsored by the team.

Bluebirds's chairman, Datuk Chan Tien Ghee said that the player has accepted the offer and will go through trials with the first team. Safiq is the 2nd player to player to be offered trials but he will be the first to board the plane to Cardiff.

Having impressed with country and Club, rumours have been abound about Safee's future. There were even murmurs stating that the 27 year old forward was enquired by Bundesliga clubs.

Since joining, Indonesian league outfit, Pelita Jaya, the man from Kuala Lumpur has been a different players and he has been punishing defenders in Djarum Super Liga and also in International friendlies and invitational games.

Being dubbed as the reincarnation of Mokhtar Dahari, the players who has played with several clubs in Malaysia will be making the step up in his ever improving professional career.

The latest revelation would be an exciting prospect for him as he has stated that this trial offer has been the pinnacle of his career.


“Every Malaysian football fan follows the English game and I’m no different. Even as a kid, I’ve always dreamt of one day plying my trade in the English league ... and now I have a chance to do that with this trial.

“The door has been opened for me. It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity and I am going to give it my all to prove my credentials,” said the 27-year-old Safee.

Datuk Chan is delighted with the prospect of seeing Safee training with the likes of established forwards, Kenny Miller and Robert Earnshaw . He also hoped that more Malaysian players will emerge and show their wordly promise.

“When Safiq managed to get a trial with Cardiff, there was a real good buzz around the club as well as in Malaysia. Now with Safee joining in the fray, hopefully the hype will be heightened and inspire our young and budding footballers to aim only for the sky.

“This effort will bode well for both the club and Malaysia. There’s a lot of talent back home and it’s time we start unearthing the gifted by giving them proper exposure. I think this could be the beginning of a revolution,” said Malaysian businessman Datuk Chan who took over the Cardiff City last year.
