It could have been a great worse but it was overshadowed by a crash which took a life of a talented rider. Marco Simoncelli, riding for Honda died when he collided with Colin Edwards and Valentino Rossi.
One of the most highly rated riders in the MotoGP, Simoncelli who was in fourth position during lap two, saw his bike veered across the track and straight into the path of Edwards and Rossi.
Colin Edwards fell but he was unhurt by the crash whereas Rossi also escaped unhurt. Simoncelli's who's helmet come off during the incident, lied motionless on the track and the race was immediately red flagged.
Brought to the hospital, he was pronounced dead at 4.56 P.M at the Sepang Circuit Medical Centre. The response for his death will surely be felt around the world as they have lost a promising rider who was touted to be the next 'Biaggi'.
For sure, security of riders will be raised after this crash as many will be pondering how Simoncelli's Helmet could be so unsecure. His team will need to do some soul searching as losing a rider of such stature is a big loss.
My prayers go to his family and team. He maybe a newbie in MotoGP but his competitive nature and tenacity will surely be missed by the riders.
Rest in peace Simoncelli...You will be an inspiration to all the kids out there...
