BPL Round Up..

Arsenal vs Swansea, 1-0
Much was expected from this game, but a howler from Dutch International, Michael Vorm gifted Arshavin the only goal of the game. It maybe be only a goal, but a win is a win. After the mauling, this would surely be a morale booster for the Emirates faithful.

Performances from Per Mertesacker, Mikel Arteta and Yossi Benayoun were encouraging as they managed to blend with the team well. Mikel Arteta was impressive as he showed his playmaking attributes. His passes, almost accurate set pieces and work rate impressed the fans and he will surely be a hit with the masses.

Arsene Wenger particularly cherish this victory as he has come through an August to forget. With the new player blending in with the current crop of players, the team will surely need time to hit their real form. However, they need to do it fast as the fans are demanding a colossal improvement from the team that hasn't won a trophy for 6 seasons.

Swansea have yet to score a goal in the Premier League and Michael Vorm would surely fret his howler as he has impressed in his first 2 games. Swansea's Danny Graham should buck up and start scoring goals to ensure that Swansea remains in the Premier league.

Scott Sinclair and Nathan Dyer have impressed but they need to step up if they want to follow the likes of Gareth Bale, Theo Walcott, Danny Welbeck and Jack Wilshere. Brendan Rogers would surely want to start getting results and in the coming games, his players should buck up in order to become a strong opposition against the Premier League teams.

Everton vs Aston Villa, 2-2
Alan Hutton, Scottish international was given his debut today but it wasn't a great start for him. His team had to peg back twice to nab a draw at Goodison Park.

Everton, who have lost talismanic Spaniard, Mikel Arteta to Arsenal, lost their lead twice and this isn't a good sign for David Moyes. Facing financial problems, the team who have produced talented youngsters like Jack Rodwell and Wayne Rooney will now have to do something to improve their fortunes.

Last minute signings, Royston Drenthe and Dennis Stracquarlusi were in the squad but only Drenthe came in the 2nd half. Leighton Bained impressed in this game as he scored one goal and his constant marauding runs threatened the right flank of Villa.

Fabian Delph, once touted as the next big thing in England didn't impress as he failed to assert himself in the game. Gifting a free kick which resulted in a goal summed up his game against Everton.

Both teams are still acclimatizing to conditions, they will have to move fast if they are chasing for a European spot. David Moyes and Alex McLeish are two great managers and they have what it takes to make their a formidable force - in mid table!

Manchester City vs Wigan Athletic, 3-0
Sergio Aguero is the man of the moment of Manchester City. Three goals against Wigan, the Argentinian has started off well with 6 goals from just three games! Impressive stats. The Citizens, who have a richly assembled squad looks strong this season and three wins from three games, Mancini is a happy man.

Even a missed penalty from Carlos Tevez didn't deter the team as Mancini had the luxury to rest in form players, Samir Nasri and Edin Dzeko. Without them , the team is still doing well and it's frightening to see them conquering in their three games this season.

Carlos Tevez looks rusty and with players like Aguero and Dzeko on form, he has to buck up if he wants his place back. Mario Balotelli looks set to claim for a place too and this is encouraging stuff for Mancini.

As for Wigan, Roberto Martinez will have to do something to improve his team. Having lost Charles N'Zogbia, he is now relying on Hugo Rodallega to bring the team forward. Franco di Santo also seems to be getting a heavier role in the squad and this would aid his development.

The defense however should improve as they looked abysmal at Eastlands. Gary Caldwell and Angel Lopez were out of sorts during the game and they should do something before something worst happens.

Stoke vs Liverpool, 1-0
The Potters have stunned the Merseysiders thanks to a Jonathan Walters penalty in 20th minute. Losing for the second consecutive time at Brittania Stadium, Sir Kenny Dalglish would have want to continue the team's steady momentum but it was brought to abrupt halt an Brittania.

Brought down by veteran defender, Jamie Carragher, Walters made sure he made no mistake from the spot. Though the call can be questioned but nevertheless the call was given.

Asmir Begovic should be given credit as he impressed in the game. His saves, distribution and anticipation were of exemplary and he nullified attempts from Charlie Adam, Luis Suarez and Jordan Henderson.

Craig Bellamy came in the 2nd half but he couldn't help overturn the tie. Peter Crouch got his first start with Stoke as he made his presence felt with his height. Being with a physical team like Stoke, he will surely adapt to his conditions quick and it is proven through his debut.

First lost of the season, Liverpool will surely bounce back and with their new signings, the team looks strong for the Premier League. Stoke will remain as spoilers as they physical and defensive has worked wonders for the team and manager, Tony Pulis.

Sunderland vs Chelsea, 1-2
Juan Mata seems to be hit with Chelsea as he impressed in the 2-1 win against Sunderland. Goals from Daniel Sturridge and John Terry was enough to sink the Black Cats.

Andres Villas Boas have collected 10 points from 4 games but their victories have not been convincing. The form of Fernando Torres has been the talking points and his 50 million pounds price tag seems to be vindicated. Still not able to score, AVB is slowly losing patience with the Spaniard.

Raul Meireles got his first start with Chelsea impressed as he helped hold the midfield and he took his duty pretty seriously. Chelsea looks consistent but they have not caught the eye of neutral observers.

Asamoah Gyan, who has moved on for the money league at UAE will be sorely missed by Steve Bruce. Ji Dong Woon scored the consolation goal and the young South Korean is beginning to exert himself in the team.

Niklas Bendtner who started in the game didn't impress much as he is beginning to solidify himself in the squad. Steve Bruce has got an array of talented players but he needs to start utilising them and get good results. Niall Quinn would surely have his limits and something needs to be done to ensure that his investment is doing well.

Wolves vs Tottenham Hotspurs, 0-2
Luka Modric was  in the starting line up as he impressed. He helped Spurs come out victorious from the Molineux. Emmanuel Adebayor scored in his debut as he impressed in his first game.

Harry Redknapp, who has one of the most talented squads in the Premier League, will surely breath a sigh of relief as the team has bounced back from their hammering against Manchester City.

The other goal which was scored by Jermain Defoe was enough to sink the Wolves. The side led by Mick McCarthy struggled against their superior rivals. The likes of Kevin Doyle and Steven Flecther were able to penetrate the fragile Ledley King but they weren't clinical enough in front of goal.

Brad Friedel proved to be a hit during the game as the 40 year old kept Wolves at bay during the game. However, concerns about Ledley King can be seen as the skipper was just out of sorts during the game.

Scott Parker started his debut in style as he assisted one of the goals and he will be a interesting character in the team. With the likes of Modric staying, the team can now aim more higher and forget speculations until January next year.

Wolves who have assembled players from lower leagues will have to concentrate in games like this and their strikers should be very clinical to demolish classy sides like Tottenham.

They should use this game as a lesson and do better in their coming games in the Premier League.

Bolton Wanderers vs Manchester United, 0-5
Scoring 5 goals at the Reebok Stadium. The Red Devils are just unstoppable and they seem to be a high wave of confidence after the mauled rivals, Arsenal at Old Trafford.

Wayne Rooney, with a new found confidence, is beginning to show his true worth as he scored a hattrick to sink Bolton at their own stadium. The England International is blazing the scoring charts and if he continues such form , he will be an ace for club and country.
Chicharito is also back at his best as he scored a brace to help consolidate the mauling. Second consecutive hattrick for Rooney would surely appease the fans.

Having such a great squad, Manchester United are the favourites to win the Premier League. Sir Alez Ferguson, at 69, is still going strong and would surely want to nail the 20th title.

As for Bolton, Owen Coyle will need to do some soul searching. Zat Knight and Gary Cahill had a nightmare game as they couldn't cope with the onslaught by the Red Devils.

The lost of Johan Elmander was sorely felt as Ivan Klasnic and Kevin Davies, both at the wrong side of 30 were unable to exert themselves in the game.

Even young Chris Eagles was powerless against his former team and he needs to buck up to remain an important figure for Owen Coyle's side. When Lee Chung Young returns from injury, he should be much stronger and aware of his position in the squad.

Avinesh' verdict: Manchester United looks scary, money is doing the talk for City, Arsenal still needs the players to gel, Torres ain't the goalscoring machine he was before, Adebayor will surely be a hit(for a shortwhile) and the other teams should start bucking up if not they will have the drop..
